It was always His Holiness Penor Rinpoche’s wish that all Palyul students would develop good qualities. To provide the most conducive circumstances for that growth, he wanted them to study with only the best possible teachers.
Following his wishes, I, along with Throneholder H.H. Karma Kuchen Rinpoche, the two heart sons and Khenchen Tsewang Gyatso, discussed in NY how best to accomplish this. Our final decision was that presently within our Palyul Lineage one of the finest teachers and one of the oldest Lineage Holders is Tulku Thupsang. There is no doubt about his qualities. We all agreed on this.
Following this meeting, all the Tulkus wrote and called him, and I, as the Palyul Ling retreat coordinator, went personally to see Tulku Thupsang Rinpoche, and spent two weeks with him. Finally he agreed that he will come to the Palyul Retreat Center. This is because he wants to have His Holiness Penor Rinpoche’s activity continue and he wants to also continue His Holiness Penor Rinpoche’s teaching.
But, unfortunately, this year, during the Tibetan 5th and 6th month, (western calendar July and August), he has to give the Dzogchen instruction for three year retreat in the Palyul mother monastery. This has been scheduled since last year. So after that, he said he will try to come to the Palyul Retreat Center, but so far he has not given us exact dates. He will give me the dates as soon as he knows them, and I will let all the students of Palyul Ling know immediately.

Tim and I are certainly going to miss everyone this summer–but we will try to clear the time wheneverr it happens if we are able.

Confirmed – Retreat IS happening!
Just wanted to confirm for you, the retreat is happening for sure! Khenchen Tsewang Gyatso Rinpoche has spoken with HH Karma Kuchen Rinpoche, and while His Holiness cannot attend this year, he wants the retreat to continue exactly as Holiness Penor Rinpoche wished.

I think the retreat is still happening (according to the flier); we just won’t be blessed by the presence of Tulku Thubsang Rinpoche.
