Dates: July 22 to July 24
Description:
In this profound segment of the retreat, participants will not only receive academic insights into bodhicitta, the awakened mind and heart of enlightenment, but will also be guided through transformative practices aimed at cultivating genuine compassion within their own hearts.
These teachings will encompass profound wisdom on the Four Immeasurables (Immeasurable Love, Compassion, Joy, and Equanimity), along with practical instructions on tonglen, a powerful method for exchanging compassion. Additionally, participants will receive comprehensive training in the precepts of bodhicitta, both in aspiration and application.
This weekend immersion offers a rare opportunity to receive the Bodhisattva Vow directly from the tulku retreat master, following enlightening teachings delivered by a distinguished Palyul Khenpo. Subsequently, participants will engage in transformative practices, including tonglen coupled with refuge prostrations guided by Lama Pasang Tenzin.
While this segment represents the third set of teachings in Ngöndro, it can be pursued independently of prior classes. However, for those seeking to fully complete Ngöndro, following the teachings in sequence is recommended. Nevertheless, incorporating these teachings into one’s daily practice can also serve as a potent means of spiritual transformation.”
Prerequisites: It is best if the prospective student has taken the preceeding classes (Four Thoughts, Refuge) and engaged in those practices in the retreat context. However, all Ngöndro courses are open to any who wish to attend. In order to proceed to the second year (Tsa Lung), the full Ngöndro course must be completed.
Class Master: Khenpo Jigmey Kalsang Rinpoche, also known as Khenpo Apchung, will lead the Ngöndro class in 2025.
Class Umze: Our class umze and instructor is Lama Pasang Tenzin. Lama Pasang is highly experienced with new students and tireless in demonstrating all of the practices required for Ngondro.
Note: Class master and class lama are subject to change according to the instructions of the retreat vajra master. You will be informed of any such changes upon arrival at retreat.
