4. Mandala

Dates: July 25 – July 28

Description:

The Mandala represents the entirety of the universe, serving as a profound symbol for transcending attachment to all relative phenomena and awakening to the realization of emptiness.

This class offers comprehensive teachings and insights to deepen understanding of the mandala ritual offering. Participants will gain invaluable context and practical guidance on both the short and long mandala plate rituals, directly facilitated by Lama Pasang Tenzin.

While this class is ideally suited for those who have completed the Outer Preliminaries, Refuge, and Bodhisattva Vow, it is also open to students from other traditions seeking to learn the sacred practice of offering the mandala. Join us as we delve into the profound symbolism and transformative power of the mandala ritual.

Prerequisites: It is best if the prospective student has taken the preceeding classes (Four Thoughts, Refuge, Bodhicitta) and engaged in those practices in the retreat context. However, all Ngöndro courses are open to any who wish to attend. In order to proceed to the second year (Tsa Lung), the full Ngöndro course must be completed.

Class Master: Khenpo Jigmey Kalsang Rinpoche, also known as Khenpo Apchung, will lead the Ngöndro class in 2024.

Class Umze: Our class umze and instructor is Lama Pasang Tenzin. Lama Pasang is highly experienced with new students and tireless in demonstrating all of the practices required for Ngondro.

Note: Class master and class lama are subject to change according to the instructions of the retreat vajra master. You will be informed of any such changes upon arrival at retreat.
