Description: In Trekchö, practitioners engage in a direct and profound inquiry into the nature of mind. They seek to cut through or transcend ordinary conceptual thinking and discursive thoughts to directly recognize the innate nature of awareness. This practice aims to unveil the intrinsic purity, clarity, and emptiness of the mind, leading to a direct experience of its fundamental nature, often described as rigpa or pristine awareness.
Trekchö is one of the essential practices in Dzogchen, alongside its complement, Togal. While Togal involves visionary experiences and perceiving the external world as an expression of inner wisdom, Trekchö focuses on the direct recognition of the nature of mind itself. These practices are part of the path to realizing the ultimate nature of reality and achieving spiritual awakening within the Dzogchen tradition.
The first month of Trekchö entails meditation with object. The second month (sixth year of retreat) focuses on meditation without object.
