Bodhisattva Vows and Compassion Practice July 22 - 24

In this section of the retreat, students will learn not only academic details about bodhicitta, the awakened mind and heart of enlightenment, but will also be given practices to help them actually arouse compassion in their own minds.

These teachings will include teachings on the Four Immeasurables (Immeasurable Love, compassion, joy and impartiality), tonglen (a method for giving and receiving compassionate energy), and training in the precepts of bodhicitta in aspiration and application.

It is possible to take these vows and learn these practices over a weekend. Students will attend teachings given by a Palyul Khenpo, be granted the Bodhisattva Vow by the tulku retreat master, and then practice tonglen with refuge prostrations with Lama Pasang Tenzin.

This is the third set of teachings for Ngondro which can be taken without having completed the prior classes. To fully complete Ngondro, one would want to follow these teachings in order, but it is also possible to make this a main daily practice.
