Introduction
As a Buddhist organization and church website, Palyul.org especially respects each individual’s right to personal privacy. We will collect and use information through our Web site only in the ways disclosed in this statement. This statement applies solely to information collected at Palyul.org’s Web site.
Part I. Information Collection
Palyul.org collects information through our Web site at several points. We only collect personally identifiable information when you give it to us by using the our forum, the Constant Contact email program (was Microsoft's Lisbuilder and before that Listbot) for which we provide a link to on our site, and the profile feature of the retreats website. At that point, only information you yourself give by typing into a form is collected.
Palyul.org never knowingly asks a child under 13 to divulge personal information.
We collect the following general data that is not personally identifiable information via a Third Party called Hitbox (www.websidestory.com now Omniture), such as page navigation, browser version, screen resolution - all the standard web metric tracking statistics commonly collected on the web.
We collect this information, which is not personally identifiable, through the placement of specialized Hitbox code at the bottom of each page.
We do not currently employ cookies as part of our own website code (except in the Forum), although Hitbox does employ cookies. A cookie is a small text file that our Web server places on a user’s computer hard drive to be a unique identifier. Cookies enable Palyul.org to track usage patterns and deliver customized content to users. Our cookies can not collect personally identifiable information unless you consent to such collection (this would include your real name if you chose to enter it into a registration form).
If we choose to allow banner advertising, it will only be for other Palyul Buddhist centers to advertise their programs.
Part II. Information Usage.
The information collected by Palyul.org will be used for the mailing list for fliers and newsletters or special announcements. Information collected via Hitbox will only be used to improve the website experience.
We offer links to other Web sites. Please note: When you click on links to other Web sites, we encourage you to read their privacy policies. Their standards may differ from ours.
Our Web site offers a forum. Please be advised that information posted in these venues becomes public knowledge except for that posted behind the permission-only space.

Part III. Access to Information
Palyul.org maintains the accuracy of our mailing list information by user or manual update only. Users may access their own personal information and contact us about inaccuracies they may find. Please visit Constant Contact to change, add, or delete your information. Users may delete their information from our database by following the instructons at the bottom of any email, or by writing to list@palyul.org and requesting removal (as this method is manual, it may take more time). Users may also write to Palyul Ling, 359 Hollow Road, McDonough, NY 13801, and request removal.
