The Palyul Retreat Center is now offering the possibility for practitioners to utilize the retreat center during the off-season for personal retreats. This is in accordance with the wishes of His Holiness Penor Rinpoche who understands the difficulty of maintaining daily practice in the West. It is a source of joy for His Holiness to know that the center is being used for practice and accumulations during the time outside of our formal month-long retreat.
A kitchen has been constructed in the South Dorm for these retreats which are being run on a trial basis. The staff is interested in knowing if it is possible to maintain an orderly environment in the retreat facilities with a minimum amount of staff effort.
The rate per night is $35 to help cover the fuel and electricity costs. If you are able to manage an additional donation on top of the requested fee, it would be very helpful. Please note the rate does not include food which is up to the retreatant to purchase and prepare.
Morning practice is held daily with the resident lama, Lama Sochuk, when he is in the center. The practice starts at 7 AM and includes Riwo Sang Cho, Vajrakilaya, Tara, and Avalokitesvara of the Six Realms with dedications. Attendance to this practice is not mandatory, but Lama will miss you if you don't come!
Please note other retreatants engaged in personal practice may be present and may utilize the facilities. Retreatants are encouraged to work together to maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen, rooms, bathrooms and practice areas.

Please note that these retreats are for practice only. The center is sacred place and should not be used for vacation and recreation purposes.
Also, personal retreats are not available during events at the center. Please be sure to call Lama Tsewang regarding your retreat.
